UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying Tournament: Format and Results

Overview

The UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying tournament was a football competition that was played from March 2023 to March 2024 to determine the 23 UEFA member associations that would join hosts Germany in the 24-team tournament. The 53 UEFA member associations were drawn into ten groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying automatically for the finals. The remaining four teams played in play-offs to determine the final three qualifiers.

Qualifying Groups

The qualifying groups were drawn on 9 October 2022 at the Festhalle exhibition center in Frankfurt, Germany. The ten groups were as follows:

  • Group A: Spain, Scotland, Norway, Georgia, Cyprus
  • Group B: Netherlands, France, Ireland, Greece, Gibraltar
  • Group C: Italy, England, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Malta
  • Group D: Croatia, Wales, Armenia, Turkey, Latvia
  • Group E: Poland, Czech Republic, Albania, Faroe Islands, Moldova
  • Group F: Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Estonia
  • Group G: Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Lithuania
  • Group H: Switzerland, Israel, Romania, Kosovo, Belarus
  • Group I: Portugal, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Liechtenstein
  • Group J: Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Northern Ireland, San Marino

Qualifying Results

The qualifying matches were played from March 2023 to November 2023. The top two teams from each group qualified automatically for the finals, while the remaining four teams played in play-offs to determine the final three qualifiers. The play-offs were played in March 2024, with the winners of the three play-off finals qualifying for the finals.
